Prize winning writing – Once in a lifetime opportunity
As a multilingual national tourist guide, I frequently pass through airport lounges and hotel lobbies where I sometimes browse through the finest magazines.
In November 2011, I received a complimentary copy of “Prestige Magazine / Best of the best” before my flight to Cape Town. In this issue was competition whereby one could win an inspired morning with Dr John Demartini and Prestige Magazine onboard ‘The World’ ship.

Thank you to all the association members who attended the gauteng guides association meeting today the 16 January 2012, the senior members
I'm not one to often write anything never mind complaining. And I'm not a whiner either! But there are limits to everything. And I know we make our own choices in life. So, yes, I chose and offered to to this overland.
I met the pax as per usual at OR Tambo. Did the usual Pretoria City Tour and then slept over in Protea Hotel Witbank. Not too bad.
We spent Old year's eve at Pilgrimsrest Hotel. It was pouring with rain and in spite of the weather, the staff went out of their way to make it a brilliant evening. Just had to get up at 6 am to do a Panorama Route and then on to Satara.
This was certainly a trip with a difference. Usually we traverse hundreds of kilometers through South Africa, occasionally crossing borders, with a list as long as my arm chasing birds; being the ‘twitcher’ that I am I will admit that my list was only as short as my hand and the difference came with the intention to put rings on as many birds as possible… at least that is how it started. By the middle of the trip we changed our criteria (after catching Sociable Weavers by the dozens) to putting rings on as many different species possible.

Dear Members,
We are once again reaching the end of another year.
To colleagues and their families around the world who celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or other holidays during this season, may this be a time of great blessings and joy.
As we move into 2012, we also become closer to the next WFTGA Convention in 2013, which will be held in Macau. Our colleagues in Macau are busy planning the next convention and making preparations to welcome the members of WFTGA.
Most of us have had those impossible to answer questions about animals or birds when in Kruger or any of the other parks. Wildlife has been an interest of mine and my study area but every now and then, I get stumped by a question.
I feel very frsutrated because some of the most beautiful landmark areas that we visit with tourists are generally being degraded and neglected alarmingly and I don't know how to sort the problem out.
Just had a stroll through the city centre of Cape Town and found a really great place to take guests (and friends) for lunch!
A few days ago I was at God's Window and witnessed a guy ripping out large ferns and clivias (plus an aloe or two) and tried to stop him but was told to "Voesek".
